Based in Arlington, Texas, the Texas Rangers is an American professional baseball team that is a key player in the American League. Since their formation in 1961, they have won several titles which include AL pennants and West Division titles, among others. The team is owned by Ray Davis, an American businessman with more than 10 years of professional baseball experience.
Welcoming the Texas Rangers
The standard baseball team of nine players has uniforms colored blue, red, and white. As suggested in the name of their team, there is a large white cowboy hat on top of a baseball logo of the Texas Rangers. This is to suggest the importance and history of the Texas cowboys. There are also the words “Texas Rangers” to stay true to their Western vibe. As boys who place great importance on winning and unity, the motto of their team is “one riot, one ranger”. Some key players of the team include Joey Gallo, Corey Seager, Jose Canseco, Sammy Sosa, and many others. They also have a horse-looking mascot, one dressed in the team’s uniform. It wears the jersey number 72 to honor the current team’s formation that took place in the year 1972.
Texas Rangers History
The team did not always go by its current name. The Texas Rangers were originally known as Washington Senators from 1961 to 1971. The team only adopted its current name in 1972 and it has been its name ever since. The Texas Rangers also used to play in different fields around Texas such as Griffith Stadium, Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, and others. Today, they play in Globe Life Field, a field that seats more than 40,000 spectators. Throughout their years, different owners have taken the position of managing the team such as Robert E. Short, Bradford G. Corbett, H.E. (Eddie) Chiles, and even George W. Bush.
Texas Rangers Logo
Since the team formed in 1961, there were several other variations before the Rangers finalized its current logo. The first logo was the team’s pride and joy for the first 10 years, featuring a baseball player standing before the White House. In 1972, the team adopted a logo with a baseball dressed in a cowboy hat. Soon after, there were other similar variations of the logo, before they stuck with their current logo which was created in 2003. The colors of the logo have remained the same throughout the years, with red, white, and blue as the team’s primary colors.
