Organizing Your Baseball Hat Collection

Organizing baseball hats can be fun because you get to look at all the hats you have, remember when you bought them, they inspire specific memories, and more. It can also feel a little bit overwhelming when you finally decide to tackle the job of organizing/storing that huge baseball cap collection of yours. Is there a “best way” to store your baseball caps? Do you have to spend an arm and a leg to get some fancy container in which to store all your hats?

Turns out, there are a couple of "best ways" to store those precious memories. To answer the second question, "no", you do not have to spend a lot of money to organize and store your collection. In fact, we are going to look at just a few ways to go about storing and organizing your baseball caps simply and inexpensively.

There are lots of ways to go about doing this, so if you don't like the following ideas, there's plenty more where these came from.

Organizing Your Baseball Hat Collection

Using a Drawer for Storage

You’ll need a dresser drawer.

You may or may not be able to close the drawer after you put your collection of caps in there unless you've assured yourself that the drawer is deep enough. Keep that in mind.

With each hat snuggled into the next one, you will set your baseball caps in rows. Think of the last time you were at a store were baseball caps were displayed. It likely looked similar to this, except yours are in a drawer. You could probably store about 30 hats if the drawer is large enough. Try lining them up in three rows.

The purpose of using a drawer is to not only keep your hats organized and neat, but to protect them from debris and dust. How you organize them – teams, colors, styles, etc. – is up to you.

Small Cubicles Are Great for Baseball Cap Storage

For perfect storage, consider some storage cubes. These little boxes are usually used for storing and/or carrying around miscellaneous items like yarn or toys, and they can be picked up inexpensively. They’re about one square foot and they work fantastically for organizing and storing baseball hats.

If you have wood cubbies in your home, it's likely they'll fit in there. If not, and you're handy with tools and wood, you can make your own cubbies. To make extra space for smaller items, you can set the cubbies up in a storage unit, closet, or your bedroom.

Hooks and Hangers

First of all, this involves closets. Whereas most people have closets, not everyone has room in them. So, before you decide this is a good idea for you, go check out your closet space.

With that done, let's move on. In addition to having some room in your closet, hopefully you have a spare clothes hanger or two. Get some shower hooks and attach them to the hanger. Onto the hooks, loop your hats, one in front of the other. Now you can place that hanger at whatever location in the closet you feel is best.

You may even decide to hang the hanger itself next to the door on your hat rack. It's the perfect combination! You keep your hats from being thrown on the floor, they won't get flattened or wrinkled, you can spot them in an instant, and they are perfectly organized. Done!
