Cheering On Your Favorite NBA Team In Quarantine

Now that the MLB has officially commenced without any fans, the NBA is gearing up to have its season restarted with the NBA team playing in isolation to advance to the playoffs. While baseball teams are eliminating crowd noise and propping the venue with cardboard cutouts of fans, the NBA is going for a more interactive and immersive approach which can actually get fans much closer to the game experience. We have put together several ways for you to show your appreciation for your favorite teams while staying safe on your couch.

Cheering On Your Favorite NBA Team In Quarantine

NBA Official App

The NBA enables fans to cheer on for their favorite team during the game through a simple tap of a button. Fans just need to install the app on their mobile device and select the More button located on the far right corner of the navigation bar. Select the Tap to Cheer option where a whole list of games is made available for fans to cheer for. Fans simply tap on the different buttons to root along virtually. All the cheering done by fans will be represented by visual effects and graphics on video boards installed at the court in the arena. Additionally, NBA TV and NBA League Pass subscribers are given additional access to alternate feeds with new camera angles, gaming options, enhanced graphics, and influencers calling the game with a focus on areas such as fashion, analytics, and music.

Twitter

Fans can also post their team hashtags on Twitter which has a similar level of impact as compared to using the NBA app. Fans can check on their team’s official account for the official hashtag to use.

TikTok

There are also plenty of TikTok challenges that fans can participate in to show their appreciation of their favorite teams. Selected content will be displayed on the screens installed right at the arena. It is just like a Kiss Cam done remotely!

Snapchat

There is also an augmented reality lens which fans can find online on Snapchat. This lens makes use of the Snapchat platform through ground transformation technology to project a digital version of the court into the homes of fans. The Snapchat lens is made available at the start of the season which can be found in the Lens Carousel. Fans just need to tap on the smiley face icon and look out for the NBA logo. Extensive space is needed as the virtual court lens renders to real-world scale. Upon seeing the court, fans can navigate around through their device to see the goal, the stands, and other aspects of the game.

Microsoft Teams

One of NBA sponsors, Microsoft, also has 300 fan invites to bring the entire arena to the personal space of fans through a remote viewing session. It is executed using Microsoft Teams with the whole team projected onto a 17-foot video board right at the arena. Only contest winners are given this golden opportunity to cheer on their team.

With so many different avenues for fans to cheer on their favorite NBA team during quarantine, there is no reason to frown when the NBA fever is on!
