A Straightforward Guide To Matching Baseball Caps With Footwear

Fashion sense. It's defined as someone "being aware of how to dress fashionably". Which is a little bit ridiculous if you're in the dark as to the word "fashion". Fortunately, most people today have at least a rough idea of what fashion means. This is not to say, however, that everyone has good fashion sense. Far from it. To help those people along, we are going to discuss wearing/matching baseball caps with footwear, and the right way to go about it.

Coordinating shoes with another part of your outfit is nothing new. You see on the runway all the time, on the red carpet before an events ceremony, at the fundraising soirée you may be invited to attend, and out on the street.

In decades past, you coordinated your shoes with your belt or your purse. Today, however, while you can certainly wear a certain choice of footwear to match with your hat, or vice versa, you can also wear either for a refreshing pop of color.

A Straightforward Guide To Matching Baseball Caps With Footwear

There are several factors or methods to consider when coordinating baseball caps and footwear.

Things to Consider When Coordinating Your Hat and Your Shoes

Here are the factors we just referred to:

  • Don't push it – If it doesn't feel natural, don't do it.
  • Creativity is good – You may wish to choose something you won’t see on everybody else.
  • Be you – Don't chase fashion.
  • Keep the seasons in mind – Don't sacrifice warmth for fashion.
  • You can't go wrong with the classics – Some things never go out of style, particularly where baseball caps are concerned.
  • You don't have to be the center of attention – Not unless you want to.
  • Say something – If you don't feel like doing the talking, go ahead and let your footwear/baseball cap do it for you. They don't both have to stand out, however. One can do all the talking. Some subtle sneakers and a vibrantly colored hat – or vice versa – are a great look. Make a statement!
  • However you wear it, own it – Pretty much anyone can rock the somewhat dated look of full on matching (Billie Eilish!). You may decide, instead, to go with colors that complement each other. Think reds, greens, and blues, for example.
  • Careful matching – It's okay to go with something a little more refined rather than a hat that looks like it was colored by a neon highlighter. Unless that's what you like. Hats like that can also be a little harder to match. If you're having a hard time matching colors (and, remember, you don't have to do that) from either piece, pick out an accent color and pair it with the other.

The Biggest Take Away Here

With all of that said, remember to look at the big picture. Where well-balanced outfits are concerned, your shoes are a crucial element. However, don't slack on the rest of your gear just because you're paying attention to your shoes. Additionally, don't give all your attention to matching or coordinating your footwear and hat and look like your closet exploded everywhere else.
