New Era Cap 59Fifty fitted hat for the Orlando Rays of Minor League Baseball in black colorway, featuring primary team logo on the front. The history of this team’s logo is a great one that gives insight into MiLB’s convoluted history. Orlando’s minor league team had been passed from the Twins to the Cubs in 1993, being renamed the Orlando Cubs. However in 1997, the team underwent rebranding and were dubbed the Orlando Rays, however the logo looked nothing like this one. In 1998, the Tampa Bay Rays entered the league as an expansion team, sporting a very similar logo. It wasn’t until 1999 when the Rays acquired the Orlando Rays that they had changed the logo to make it similar to the major league club, giving the team the same beautiful gradient we’ve come to love so much. 1999 was incidentally the last year Orlando sported this logo, making this a very brief but tremendously impressionable team look.
